Special Weather Extremes for September


September 1st, 2000 was the second day in a row that the temperature at the Corpus Christi, TX airport hit 103°F. This sets a new record for the date- old record was 97°F set back in 1989. This also ties the monthly maximum temperature for September which was previously set on September 5th, 1977. Another record was set on September 3rd, when the maximum temperature reached 104°F breaking the previous record for the date of 98 set in 1993 and the previous record for the extreme September maximum temperature of 104°F set just the day before on the 3rd of September. Then the maximum temperature reached 107°F on the September 4th followed by an amazing 109°F reading on the 5th. Temperatures on the 4th broke the all time record high of 106°F which was set on June 14th, 1998 and the previous daily record of 101°F set in 1937. Temperatures on the 5th broke the all time record high of 107°F which was set yesterday, September 4th, 2000 and the daily record of 103°F set in 1977. This is also the first time ever that the temperature has reached 100°F for seven consecutive days and the third day in a row in which the record high temperature for September has been exceeded.
