This photo was taken after the December low of 28°F (5 hours below freezing) and January lows of 31°F (6 hours below freezing) with heavy frost. Note: Palm was covered with a cotton bailing bag to prevent leaf burn.
In 1999, we had a cold spell that lasted 48 hours, where temperatures stayed at 31
°F. Palm was left unprotected and and received about 80% damage to the leaves, it took nearly two years to completely recover and look normal again. Click to see 99 Winter Damage
